Kaie shook her head, then remained still as though trying to decide wether or not to answer. When she did answer, it was a cautiouse one, each word carfully selected and placed accordingly.
"no, its not too bold. not too bold atall. Where I came from, we were not meant to use magic. Perhaps this was because they feared the magic, perhaps because they respected it, perhaps because old traditions never wear thin. Perhaps it was all the three together. Thats why I'm here - alone. I had a sort of, what you might call "connection" with my magic. not meaning to boast about it, but it just seemed natural to me. Nothing else had ever made sense in my life - but this magic, it just fit perfectly where nothing else had. Of course, naturally I practiced the one thing that I could accomplish easily. I was not content unless I could challenge my powers. They - they became particularily strong, almost to the point of being out of controll once. That was the last day I was welcomed in those parts of the waters."
Her speach done, Kaie fell into a strange silence. It felt good to have told someone her story. She didn't know how the telling of this would either benifit her, or make her life more miserable than it had already become. But, she concluded that there probably wasn't a way that these people could do to damage her life, and so everything would be fine. This was only slightly reasuring.
It was the other merman's voice that startled her back to reality. She turned her gaze to this mer-boy, and smiled slightly at his sudden outburst.
"hello"
was all she said. there was nothing else that needed saying.
